One of the concerns amongst the faculty on campus is the use of our Fire Evacuation System. Despite it's implementation on campus, its utilization has been questioned. After considerable amount of pressure, plans are being put forth to ensure regular testing. According to President Spinks,"The system was tested a few weeks ago and we will do regular testing to ensure it is in working order". Brad Young, Chairman of the Work Enviornment Committee, puts the upcoming plans into detail:
"We're going to begin to do something new...It has to go before the president for approval, but the committee has come up with a plan that we would test the alarm system on the 1st Tuesday of every month at 9:40am and then test it on the alternate nights on the evening, then, the Sheriffs Department would announce it was a drill and to not evacuate, and it would sound for approximately 20 seconds at which time professors would explain the evacuation route to every class". The evacuation route mentioned, is available in every class on campus.
