WiFi Access Above Us
There is a world of energy floating invisibly around us on campus, and those who have the ability to channel it can gain access to great information and power. That's in reference to our WiFi internet access, by the way.
If you have a WiFi ready laptop, phone or PDA that you bring to campus, then you should already know about the access available in the cafeteria. According to LAHC's IT Director Ivan Clarke, WiFi access has been extended with new access points in the library and in the Seahawk Center. There are also plans to have access in the Music and Theater Buildings, but the setup is pending due to some wiring issues which should be completed by the end of the month. Clarke informed us that although WiFi is available to limited locations, he would like it to be accessible completely around campus. Authentication is required to access our WiFi Network, which Clarke justifies as a security issue to ensure that students, staff, and faculty alone are the ones to use the school's connection.
"I use it to check my email and read my MySpace all the time, I'm really glad that they made it so we can do this." - Eddie Lopez
"It keeps me occupied during the break I have between my classes!" - Daniel Lancaster
So now whether you're looking up material for a test subject, checking your MySpace, watching a movie, playing an online game, or just listening to some music you can do it almost anywhere on campus.
