Attention aspiring writers, students who wish have their work published have the opportunity to do so by entering in the Los Angeles Community College Districts essay writing contest.
Candidates are instructed to write a 500-750 word interpretation of the essay topic "Love's not suppose to hurt." This year's topic was chosen in conjunction with October being National Violence Awareness Month.
The top three essays chosen will be announced November 1, with winners receiving $100, $50, and $25 gift certificates respectively. Winning essays have the option to be published anonymously if desired.
This year's contest marks the first time it has been a district wide event. In previous years the contest had been exclusive to Harbor College.
