Hundreds of students gathered for the yearly annual Transfer Fair at the Seahawk Center.

The fair took place on October 7th, and displayed information from over 30 different four-year colleges.

Public and private schools alike attended the event, such schools as: USC, UCLA, CSULB, CSUN; and even the school of acupuncture South Baylo University, among others. Also attending the fair were representatives from The U.S Army, and The U.S Air Force.

The colleges attended hoping to recruit Los Angeles Harbor College students that meet the requirements and plan on transferring.

Students were able to talk to representatives from each school and ask any questions they had pertaining to the institution, while acquiring information on what they offered for their major.
The Associated Students Organization provided $300 to support the event as well as the labor.

Students arrived early to set up the booths and were also responsible for distributing fliers prior to the event. In addition, the community supported the fair by donating refreshments to the vendors.
Starbucks and Fresh & Easy, were the two main contributors. They supplied coffee and snacks for the workers and students alike.

Both businesses are located in the same plaza at 26650 Western Ave. in Harbor City.

Harbor was one of the few community colleges that had a high turnout of representatives.

Due to budget cuts other junior colleges were only able to invite a few institutions to their transfer event.

"Some of the colleges that said that they wouldn't make it, still came anyway," said Leige Doffoney, LAHC Transfer Center Director. "It's because we have a very diverse group of students and they want to bring diversity to their campuses."

Doffoney later explained that other colleges that had their own version of the Transfer Fair didn't have a great turnout like Harbor College did.
