A bomb scare at Los Angeles Harbor College affected between 30 to 35 classes and about 1,000 students in the Northeast Academic Hall this afternoon and tonight (Nov. 23).
This is the second bomb threat in the last two weeks. The first report was made Nov. 12, but no action was taken.
On Monday, some classes in the NAH were relocated to the General Classrooms building, according to eyewitness reports. It us unclear if others were canceled. According to reports, the building is expected to reopen at 7 a.m. Tuesday.
As is their policy, the Los Angeles County Sheriffs department on site at LAHC refused to comment, making it impossible to immediately confirm a report that bomb-sniffing dogs have, or will, be brought in to search the building.
Somewhere between 20-30 people were evacuated from the building, which opened last spring, about 2:30 p.m., a person in good standing who was working inside the building said.
According to authorities, a message was found tagged in permanent marker in the Library's men's restroom.
Witnesses described seeing police officers at all of the entrances of the NAH this evening.
The first threat was found in the Journalism classroom (NAH 218), in which a potential threat was written in permanent marker on a whiteboard. indicating that the NAH would be blown up. The incident was reported to authorities, but no action was taken.
