Classes resumed Tuesday morning at Los Angeles Harbor College, after a bomb scare Monday afternoon.
On Monday bomb-sniffing dogs were brought in to search the NAH building to investigate after a potential bomb threat was found written in permanent marker in the Library's men's restroom.
Classes in the NAH were temporarily relocated to the General Classrooms building, according to students.
A library employee explained, the statement in the men's room was discovered Monday, about two hours before the decision was made to evacuate the building. The search concluded at 7:15 p.m., when the campus sheriff declared it safe to reopen.
A similar potential threat was discovered in the NAH classroom 218 Nov. 12. A statement written in permanent marker on a whiteboard indicated the NAH would catch fire. Sheriff's office does not believe the two incidents are related.
In a related story, Zachary Seaward Wright, 21, was arrested for burglary and breaking into the new technology building, just hours after the bomb scare incident. Two suspects broke into rooms 114 and 116 of the technology building .A campus security guard discovered the suspects stealing a scanner and lap top , and chased them eastbound toward Figueroa , into a residential neighborhood. Wright was arrested and taken to Century Regional Detention Facility and has a $20,000 bail posted. According to campus sheriffs, they were assisted by Carson, Lomita, and TSB Sheriffs. The equipment was recovered by the officers. Wright is a resident of Carson and the second suspect is being sought.

I am extremely dissapointed at the lack of communication regarding campus emergencies such as this one. Staff in the Student Services Building was not notified of the bomb threat next door. (Continued…)

It is disturbing to find out there was another threat earlier in the month and no action was taken. Or is it that action was taken (other than painting over the threat) and no one other than administrators were told about it?
Now there are several restrooms on campus that are locked. (Continued…)
