The only thing that stands between the Los Angeles Harbor College football team and an undefeated regular season is Saturday's road trip to rejuvenated San Bernardino Valley College.

Game time is at 6 p.m.

The Seahawks (9-0, 6-0) have the only unbeaten record in the state. But SBVC (4-5, 4-2) has won four games in a row after starting the season with five consecutive losses. Harbor was 3-7 a year ago.

Some say that Harbor's record is not as good as it indicates because it plays in an inferior conference.

"The Darkside is coming after all the haters," said Moak "Soine" Brown. Several Seahawk defensive players standing nearby agreed.

The Seahawks refer to their defense as the Darkside.

The Seahawks have clinched the Mountain Conference title, so no matter what the outcome of Saturday's game, they qualify for the No. 1 seed in the playoffs.

Last Saturday Harbor got a big boost from both sides of the field as it continued to dominate, paving way to a 54-10 victory over visiting Mt. San Jacinto College. Thanks to a Cerritos College loss to Mt. San Antonio College, Harbor is the only unbeaten team standing. The game marked the last home game for the sophomore players and they were introduced one last time to the home crowd.

Harbor got off to a slow start, from a result being on the first play of the game when quarterback Dominique Blackman took a cheap-shot from a Mt. San Jacinto defender and got knocked out of the game with a knee injury. Blackman missed a series and a half before returning to give the Seahawks a touchdown on the very next play, a 21-yard pass to Prentice Gill. Ronald Gaudin filled in for Blackman at quarterback while he was out. Harbor led, 6-0, after the first quarter.

On Harbors first procession of the second quarter, it marched down the field 90 yards on nine plays, ending with a five-yard run by Thomas Gray. The Seahawks led, 14-0, at halftime.

In the third quarter the Seahawks had to kickoff to Mt. San Jacinto since Harbor won the coin toss and elected to recieve earlier. San Jacinto ended up scoring on a 30-yard field goal. And then it was all Harbor who had a big second half.

On the pursing kickoff Harbor moved the ball 68 yards on seven plays; with Jon White capping it all off with a one-yard touchdown run. Harbor led, 20-3.

The Seahawk defense ended up causing two turnovers in the quarter, all fumbles, with both of those eventually leading to Seahawks touchdowns. The Seahawks caused five turnovers and had five sacks in the game.

After the first fumble, recovered by Puncho Aiono, White scored on his second one-yard run eight plays and 64 yards later. The two-point conversion from Blackman to Sherman Ratliff put Harbor up 28-3. After a MSJC three-in-out, the Seahawks only needed one play and seven seconds as Blackman hooked up with Brandon Carver on a 50-yard touchdown bomb. Harbor went up 34-3. The second fumble, recovered by Adrian Ferns, set up harbor at the MSJC 17-yard line. Two plays and 12 seconds later, White took a 17-yard shovel pass from Blackman to the house.

The Seahawks led, 40-3, going into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth quarter the coaches put the reserves in to rest the starters. Kevin Post made it a 47-3 Seahawks lead with a spectacular 30-yard one-handed grab from Blackman. Two plays later Delque Chalk got an interception and ran it back 58 yards to the house. But an apparent illegal block in-the-back erased the score, and eight plays later Blackman scrambled to the end zone on a 10-yard run. Post connected on his second extra point of the quarter. Harbor lead 54-3.

MSJC responded on a 37-yard touchdown on a blown coverage play. And that was it.

The game featured 39 penalties. 22 of them were committed by the Seahawks.

Blackman completed 23 of 39 passing for 369 yards and four touchdowns. He also threw an interception. He also rushed five times for 19 yards and a touchdown.
Blackman now has passed for 3,155 yards passing along with 33 touchdown passes.

White rushed for 97 yards on 16 carries and had two touchdowns. He added two receptions for 29 yards and a touchdown. He has now rushed for over 1,000 yards on the season and has scored 22 touchdowns. Thomas Gray rushed nine times for 66 yards and a touchdown. Five different running backs rushed for at least 30 yards. Gaudin and Ryan Simpson each ran for 33 yards on six carries.
