Seahawks basketball team starts season in uproar, beats Moorpark College 73-53 in first game of season
Starts season 1-0, now travels to face Barstow College Saturday

The Los Angeles Harbor College basketball team started its season off with a win, beating visiting Moorpark College last Friday, 73-53.
Harbor now heads to Barstow College on Saturday (Nov. 14). Game starts at 3 p.m.
Freshman forward Kevin Dawson from Redondo High led the Seahawks with 14 points on five of 10 shooting from the field. He made two of five from three-point line.
Harbor was 26 of 68 shooting for the game. This translates to a 38.3% shooting in the game. Harbor also shot 54%, seven of 13 from downtown where it counted.
Out of the 15 Seahawk players, 11 are freshman. They are Guards Jordan Cajiao, North Torrance, Kyle Haynes, Crenshaw, Michael Crawford, Westchester, Kenny Lewis, Narbonne, Tyler Nelson, Forwards, Morrie Hyman, Redondo, Bola Egbeyemi, Carson, Kevin Dawson, Timothy Thompson, King Drew, Tyler Schreckengost, Redondo, and Sheldon Allen, Locke.
The returning sophomores are, Guards Gerald Johnson, Mira Costa, Chris Avery, Banning, John Raquel, Hawthorne, and Forward De'jon Prescott, Morningside.
"I am truly confident and excited about this year's group with the strength we have returning in the backcourt and the depth in the frontcourt," coach Tony Carter-Loza said on the basketball teams Web site. "This team has the chance to be the most talented and deepest team I have ever had at Harbor."
Coach Carter-Loza has been coaching the Seahawk basketball team the past nine years.
