The Los Angeles Harbor College cheer squad is going through a shortage of member's crisis. If they do not recruit enough members by the end of the semester, they will be cut by the upcoming fall semester. "Other than the sports teams, people don't know that we are here and that we are also part of the academics," said Coach Joy. "She would like to see the cheer team get enough support like the rest of the teams and would also like Harbor students to take them seriously and appreciate them," said Janay Santiago. She also added that the budget cut did not affect them in any way, because they supply themselves with their own uniforms and team equipment with the exception of using buses as their means of travel when going to other campuses.
The team appreciates everything they have done from prep rallies to fundraisers in order to keep cheering for the teams as well as for the school. Cheer coaches and captains do have enough spirit for recruiting all twenty-five students on to the team to turn this moment of crisis around. They do look forward to the competitions they will be attending and for the Seahawk games they will be cheering for.
If the cheer squad does not meet the requirement by fall semester of 2010, the Seahawks will not have that added support that comes from their loyal cheer squad.
This issue will make all of the athletic personal and our Seahawks disappointed when noticing they have no cheer squad to cheer them to victory.
