The Latina Leadership Network and Women's Circle of Los Angeles Harbor College helps with the success of their members education and personal road blocks while embracing the Latin American History. Sandra Eberhardt, creator of the network got the idea after reading an article about Latinas being put down by stereotypical views of what their roles should be. Eberhardt's focus is on the promotion for Latinas who are strong, independent, in school and are more than just mothers or wives. During the short time the network has been open; she has heard stories about young women not getting the support needed at home, because school is not always promoted. "If they're not getting support at home then they'll get it here," said Eberhardt. With the networks members always willing to help; the meetings held offer a welcoming environment for anyone with any problems whether they be academic or personal. Along with being the founder of the network, she is also an intern at the Life Skills Center and has the proper tools that can aid in the solving of any problems concerning personal or psychological. Two of its core members Rocio Rubalcava, and Admissions and Records Supervisor and, Ashley Eberhardt whom works for the Admissions Department are able to help students by providing any information regarding academic requirements, counselors, and deadlines or even give step by step instructions on how to solve academic problems. The meetings are the perfect place to talk about anything or any problems that you may have. "If anyone needs help, we'll help them," said Ashley Eberhardt.

At the beginning of every meeting, there's a "check-in" which is the time when everyone attending says what's going on in their lives and states whether or not they need extra time after the meeting to talk. After check-in is finished, they proceed with the agenda consisting of important events happening on and off campus, deadline reminders for scholarships and tips for school and life.

The LLN is holding a Community Outreach for Haitian earthquake survivors throughout the semester. They will be collecting clothes and shoes that will then be donated to the Salvation Army for later transported to the survivors. Another important event that's in the process of being coordinated is a blood drive with the intention of replenishing all of the blood that has been sent to the Haitian earthquake survivors.

They also promote the history of Latin America by having field trips. They've visited the Museum of Latin American Art, Rancho Dominquez, Pasadas, and Dia de los Muertos celebrations and encourage members to bring their own history as well.

The LLN believes that Latina role models like their favorite, Sonia Sotomayor, Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court are very important when it comes to the development of young Latinas all over. Although it primary focus is towards Latinas, they welcome anybody to attend their meetings. They meet every Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 7p.m. at the SPS assessment center.
